Thursday, Jun 17, 2010

TRC Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRR) today announced that NextEra Energy Resources, part of FPL Group, awarded the Company a contract to design approximately 15 miles of overhead transmission line in Gray County, Kansas. The new line will connect the Gray County Wind Farm to an existing 115kV transmission line, expanding NextEra’s ability to deliver renewable energy to its service territory. TRC also will coordinate all surveying activities, geotechnical studies, and foundation design associated with the project.

“Our participation in this project demonstrates our presence as a full service provider in the renewable energy arena. As an organization, we are passionate about addressing our nation’s energy challenges, and we are dedicated to delivering results that enable our clients to achieve success.”

“TRC is proud to support NextEra, our strong, long-term partner-customer, with their wind energy transmission project,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chris Vincze. “Our participation in this project demonstrates our presence as a full service provider in the renewable energy arena. As an organization, we are passionate about addressing our nation’s energy challenges, and we are dedicated to delivering results that enable our clients to achieve success.”

Prior to this stage of the project, TRC assisted NextEra with a route selection study to identify viable routes for the transmission line and to evaluate all options. The relationship TRC developed with NextEra during this phase, along with its extensive transmission line design services and well-established reputation in this market, contributed to the new contract award.
